the bible
The Bible, both the “Old and New Testament,” is the inspired, inerrant, infallible and perfect Word of God; it is the sole authority for our faith and Christian living. The Bible inspires and instructs us to live as Jesus lived; ever loving, ever forgiving and ever serving.
god
We believe that God is One, manifested in three distinct persons; God the Father, Lord Jesus Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
salvation
We believe that faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is the only means of salvation (John 14:6). We believe that Jesus was born of a virgin, the only begotten Son of God, that He died on a cross for our sins, was bodily raised from death, and is coming again for His church.
We believe that all of mankind needs to be saved (Romans 3:23).
We believe that the salvation that Jesus offers is only by God’s grace, and not a person’s works (Ephesians 2:8-9).
security
We believe in eternal security of the believer (John 3:16).
priesthood of believers
We believe in the priesthood of the believer; that God calls us directly as individuals and as an individual we may accept Jesus Christ as personal Savior and be guided by the Holy Spirit.
church
We believe in the local church, which Jesus died for and purchased with His own blood. We should therefore be faithful in attending services and giving our tithe and offerings for the support of the church.
We believe that each church is autonomous (self-governing), with a “regenerate membership” – people come into church membership as adults, youth or children by their faith, not as infants.
We believe that Jesus is the sole head of the church. Although our church is self-governing, it cooperates with other Southern Baptist churches, associations and conventions.
religious liberty
We believe in religious liberty for all. No political authority has the power to interfere with this basic right (Matthew 22:15-22).
missions & Evangelism
We believe in missions and evangelism. Jesus’ message of everlasting love and salvation is open to all, so it is the responsibility of every church member to be a witness to the Gospel message (Matthew 28:18-20).
ordinances
We believe that the Bible teaches two ordinances:
- Baptism of Believers by Immersion: By taking part in this ordinance, you are signifying by your faith that you have repented of your past sins, accepted Jesus as your Savior, and began a new life with God. It is a symbol of your death, burial and resurrection with Jesus, your new birth in Jesus through the Holy Spirit and your union with God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit and with other believers (Matthew 3:13-17, 1 Corinthians 12:12-13, 1 Peter 3:17-22).
- The Lord’s Supper: Taking part in this ordinance symbolizes our participation as believers in Jesus’ life and death, and is shared only by baptized believers of like faith. The Bread and the Fruit of the Vine are symbols of Jesus’ body and blood, and remind us of our commitment to Christ. They also remind us of the new covenant (agreement) we have with God. It is a time to renew our relationship with Jesus and fellow believers, as well as recognize the Second Coming of Christ. Each time we take part in the Lord’s Supper, we testify to the fact of the Second Coming and the promise of everlasting life with God (Luke 22:19, 1 Corinthians 10:16-17 and 11:23-26).
